What are the benefits to importing a boat or yacht to Australia?

Depending on your situation will determine the benefits. We handle new boat dealers, used boat brokers and private importers.

Private importers looking to buy overseas are generally looking to either save money on a used boat/yacht or purchase a brand which is not sold in Australia.

Importing used boats are very popular from the USA with the strong Australian dollar and the weak American economy in recent years has seen a big increase in boat shipping from the USA to Australia. Even before the GFC individuals were shipping boats and yachts from the USA into Australia because of the large range available which enables you find boats in better condition, less hours, used only in fresh water, more accessories etc.

Import Permits

All Trailers will require an Import Trailer Permit from the Department of Infrastructure. The maximum legal width of a trailer in Australia is 2.5m without you requiring a road permit for transport every time you want to take your boat out.

Also Air-conditioning requires an Import Permit or the gas must be removed prior to shipping to Australia.

DAZMAC can handle the import permit for your boat trailers and air-conditioning if required

For more Information on trailer & CFC permits please follow this link resource pages.

Used boats and yachts

Australian Quarantine will inspect all 2nd hand boats & trailers. To avoid additional costs on arrival from quarantine cleaning, we strongly recommend all boats and yachts  are steam/pressure cleaned, vacuumed and have fresh Anti-fouling prior to shipping to help avoid any additional quarantine washing and fumigation charges on arrival.
